How Does the School Work?

The first step is talking to our friendly and knowledgable recruiting team. They will be happy to answer your questions, explain things over the phone, and make sure you have everything you need and all of the qualifications needed to start the program. The essential requirements are a valid standard or better drivers license, an original copy of your birth certificate, and your social security card.

From there we will cover the cost to bring you out to our facilities which are located in Lindon, Utah which is about 37 miles south of Salt Lake City. Once you arrive we will provide lodging at one of our student apartments in Lindon and Orem as well as food for the duration of your initial CDL schooling (approximately 3 weeks). We will also provide transportation each day to our school facilities where you will have one-on-one time with our trainers.

Here are some additional details.

Price:

The cost for the school is $6,500, however if you can pay in cash or through a third party (a bank, lender, trucking company, etc.) then a $3,500 discount will apply. If you are using our Vocation Payment Program you can earn a $2,000 discount if you are able to complete all of your CDL testing within 4 weeks once you arrive at the school.

Payment methods:

In addition to cash and transfers from third party lenders, you can also utilize our Vocation Payment Program. This program allows you to delay the due date of your tuition until after you graduate from our CDL program and it will put you into a steady truck driving situation with the opportunity to make over $1,000 a week.

Vocation Payment Program (VPP):

With this program the graduate will be financed by Lobos Interstate Services at 22% APR and will be setup as an owner operator utilizing the all-inclusive services of Lobos Interstate Services (LIS) and our sister companies Arrowhead Dispatch Services (ADS), Direct Lease (DL), and United Motor Carrier Cooperative (UMCC). The graduate will drive in a leased truck with a co-driver and earn 50% of the profit of that truck each week. A typical, dedicated graduate can expect to make $1,000+ per week at 50%. Lobos and its sister companies will take care of everything such as safety, compliance, leasing, booking loads, etc. so that all the graduate has to do is drive the truck. Payments will be made each week towards the school tuition balance and the graduate will be obligated to continue with services of LIS, ADS, DL, and UMCC until that balance is $0.00. At that point they are free to continue or seek other job opportunities.

VPP Payments:

Payments will be made weekly and be taken out of the graduate's settlement by LIS. The payments are based on the graduate's income each week with the lowest end being at least $40 per week (at $300 settlement or less) and the highest end being 36% per week (at $800+ settlement) of the graduates settlement.

School Schedule:

Students can expect the following while going through the CDL testing prep portion of the program.

  • 30 hours of CDL Manual study and practice testing

  • 10 hours of in the truck training with an instructor

  • Unlimited access to practice truck when it is not in use.

  • Unlimited pre-trip practice

  • Unlimited attempts to pass the written test and the road test (within reason)

Advanced Skill Training:

Once the student receives their CDL, they will be started with Advanced Skills Training (AST), typically within 24 – 48 hours. AST lasts for 12 weeks and it puts the student out on the road, in a truck, with a more experienced driver. The student will learn a great deal of practical skills, gain hands on experience, and learn how to make truck driving a profitable career. While you are out of the truck you will receive $42.86 per diem for food, showers, and other expenses while you're on the road. This per diem will be given as a weekly total based on the $42.86 per day ($300 for 7 days). This is not the student's earned pay, but it is an allowance for expenses. The per diem is delayed a week, however the students can take out personal advances of $25 per day and they will be given a “Driver Survival Kit” on their first week of advanced skills training which will contain food, water, and other helpful tools to help the student get started on their first week.

Summary of school contract terms:

  • Student agrees to complete an uninterrupted 15 weeks of training

  • If Student utilizes the VPP they agree to utilize and continue using the owner-operator services of LIS and its sister companies until the Student's balance is $0.00

  • LIS will assist the Student in acquiring a Class A CDL and 12 weeks of advanced skill training
